Speaking at the gala dinner of the Migration Symposium yesterday in Berlin, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that he has traveled to German upon the invitation of German Chancellor Angela Merkel to attend the event organized in Berlin on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Turkish labor force migration to Germany. Erdogan stated that Turkey attached great importance to diversification and improvement of its multidimensional relations with Germany, which have been further strengthened thanks to an increase in high-level visits between the two countries, adding, "There are approximately three million Turkish people who have migrated to Germany in the last 50 years. German citizens with Turkish origin play a vitally important role in terms of strengthening friendly and strong relations between the two countries. Our citizens who have initially migrated to Germany as guest workers could play important roles in the economy, politics, education and training in Germany permanently and even as German citizens." Erdogan said that there were currently more than 70,000 Turkish companies operating in Germany with an annual return of 35 billion Euros and an approximate employment rate of 370,000 people and that Turkey was happy to see the contributions made by Turkish society in Germany. Erdogan also called on all countries to make a common decision in order to establish a common counter-terrorism platform. Touching upon the killing of a baby in her mother's belly during the terrorist attacks in Batman nearly one month ago, Erdogan said that not only the terrorist organization, but also the bloody tools who have pulled the trigger or made others to do so, supported the terrorist organization and provided it with moral and material support are responsible for that killing. He added that not only one country, but also everybody who believes in humanitarian values are responsible for the fight against terrorism.
