Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday met with Queen of Denmark Margrethe II and then his Danish counterpart Thorning Schmidt in Copenhagen. Following his meeting with Schmidt, Erdogan held a joint press conference with his counterpart, commenting on two attacks against the annex of the Ministry of Justice and the Justice and Development Party (AKP) headquarters in Ankara on Tuesday. "These attacks, carried out while Turkey is going through an exceedingly critical and sensitive process, are in actual fact attacks on democracy, the solution process, our national will and brotherhood," said Erdogan. Stating that the attacks are reminiscent of previous attacks that were carried out by either Ergenekon or Ergenekon-like organizations, Erdogan said the attacks would not derail the peace process aimed at finding a political settlement to the Kurdish dispute in Turkey. During the meeting, the two premiers also discussed Turkey’s EU membership bid and steps to be taken to open new chapters in Turkey’s membership talks, as well as ways to improve strategic and economic cooperation.
