Erdogan seeks governors' aid in Kurdish issue

In a speech delivered on Thursday at the Governors' Meeting of the Interior Ministry, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan the governors had an important duty in the country's fight against terrorism. "There is no time to sit back and do nothing. We are working around the clock. You have an important role in bringing a solution to the terrorism problem," Erdogan said. Stating that the governors should also initiate and engaged in activities to boost the economy, education and culture in their provinces, Erdogan also warned them that they should be accessible to the residents in their provinces. Erdogan noted that Turkey has spent some $400 billion in the fight against terrorism over the past 30 years. "If the terrorism problem didn't exist, Turkey would be very different today. Now we'll all struggle against terrorism and reach our targets," Erdogan said. Underlining that Turkey is meeting the challenges in its fight against terrorism and that the country has never been without hope in this fight, Erdogan added, "At this point, governors have a great responsibility. We must talk about the compassionate and changing face of the state and make the people feel this side of the state."
