Erdogan selected politician of year in Azerbaijan

A survey involving 37,525 people which was conducted by the Turkistan daily and Common Values non-governmental organization in Azerbaijan selected Erdogan the politician of 2012.  When they were asked who the politician of the year in Turkic world was, majority of the participants replied "Recep Tayyip Erdogan." Erdogan was followed by former Kyrgyz president Roza Otunbayeva. Aqil Jamal, editor-in-chief of the Turkistan daily, said that Erdogan was deemed worthy of the award for his contributions to boosting Turkey's importance in the region.
