Erdogan slams Germany for PKK fundraising
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan slammed Germany yesterday for ignoring the terrorist PKK activities in their territories, calling on German officials to further cooperate in the fight against terrorism. Speaking at a gala dinner in Berlin to mark the 50th anniversary of the migration of Turkish workers to Germany, Erdogan said that PKK was able to collect 6 million Euros in Germany. "This money goes to the terrorist organization as financial support. This is really sad and thought-provoking," Erdogan said, calling on German authorities to step up measures to prevent fund-raising activities for the terrorist PKK in the country. He also criticized Germany's opposition to dual citizenship and the laws which oblige any Turk moving to Germany to speak German fluently prior to arrival, saying that this is violation of human rights. "The Turkish people living in Germany must learn the German language, but no one should expect us to forget our own mother tongue." Erdogan said. In an interview, Erdogan also accused Germany of letting Turkey down by failing to provide Turkey with more support in its EU membership bid. "Germany should do much more for Turkey's EU membership bid, because this would greatly support the integration. As we, the Turkish people, have very positive feelings about Germany, we are considerably frustrated with regard to the issue," he said.
