Ergun: D-8 countries will reach 200 billion American dollars of trade volume in five years
Industry ministers of eight developing countries –Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Indonesia and Nigeria- met at the Halic Congress Center in Istanbul for a two-day summit which started yesterday. Science, Industry and Technology Minister Nihat Ergun hosted the meeting. Ergun stated that the trade volume in D-8 countries has reached 100 billion American dollars in 2010. "These figures are pleasing, but not enough. I believe we will reach 200 billion American dollars of trade volume in five years. (...) I think we should realize an organization right away which will work out on issues such as producing automotive, education and research-development," said Ergun, adding that his country is ready to provide all kinds of support to implement the decisions taken at the meeting.
