Speaking in a conference yesterday, Science, Industry and Technology Minister Nihat Ergun expressed wish silence the guns, not the people. Ergun stressed that today in such fields as economy, foreign policy and society, Turkey was incomparable to its situation of one decade ago. Underlining the establishment of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) at a critical time, Ergun pointed out that the people have commissioned them with building the Turkey of the 21st century, adding that they have to ensure democratization and develop the country to accomplish that mission. "The constitutional which was held on referendum September 12, 2010 has been a turning point, clearing the way for numerous developments. We want to ensure that there is no terror, no guns or no blood at home.  We wish to silence the guns, not the people. Let everyone speak out what they want, demand the most adverse things. Democracy allows for the most adverse demands. If something is wrong with the demands, we can tell that. There is no point in jailing people for expressing opposing views. If you humiliate people for their faith or race, what can you expect?" Ergun added.
