Eroglu's suggestion for referendum in Cyprus
During a meeting with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Saturday, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Dervis Eroglu proposed a restart of negotiations in October and simultaneous referenda in March. "We've stressed that we are ready to start results-oriented talks immediately for a comprehensive solution," Eroglu said, adding that they will maintain their constructive attitude as the Turkish side. Eroglu also noted that Greek Cypriot leader Nicos Anastasiades was trying to leave a positive impression, but was actually uneager to start the talks.
