The European Commission, in its new autumn forecast report, lifted its forecast for Turkey's growth this year to 7.5 percent from 4.7 percent, a rate which would make Turkey the fastest-growing country in Europe. The average growth rates this year in the eurozone and the European Union are expected to be 1.7 percent and 1.8 percent, respectively. The report also estimates that Turkey will grow 5.5 percent next year, up from an earlier forecast of 4.5 percent, and will grow 4.5 percent in 2012.
