EU chapter on competition could be opened

The chapter on competition in Turkey’s European Union accession negotiations with Turkey could be close to opening. According to Brussels officials, the issue will be addressed during an EU intergovernmental meeting next week. If the meeting fails to bear fruit, the issue will be turned over to Hungary, which is set to take over the EU presidency from Belgium on Jan. 1.
