Exemplary project from BYEGM: Memorial forest for media members

The Prime Ministry Directorate General of Press and Information's (BYEGM) recent tree-planting campaign for media members under the motto "A Sapling for Every Press Card Holder" is getting great interest from both local journalists and foreign reporters based in Turkey. As part of the campaign, the second tree planting ceremony took place yesterday at Adnan Menderes Park in Ankara's Pursaklar district. Speaking at the ceremony, new BYEGM head Murat Karakaya dedicated the saplings planted at the park to the memory of Prime Minister Adnan Menderes (1899-1961) and thanked the Pursaklar Municipality for supporting the project. Speaking about BYEGM efforts, Karakaya said they place great importance on activities such as training seminars for local press outlets across Turkey. He also pledged that the directorate would continue to actively engage in social responsibility campaigns such as the tree planting project.
