Turkey’s EU Affairs Minister and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis said that financial aid amounting to 385.3 million Euros has been made available by the EU to Turkey as part of 59 donation programs which were implemented in 2002-2012. Bagis added that municipalities were provided with the highest amount of financial aid totaling 99.8 million Euros, which was followed by 47.8 million Euros for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) and 44.2 million Euros for associations. In response to a Parliamentary question issued by Mehmet Seker, the Gaziantep deputy from the opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP), Bagis said that Turkey has received such financial aid through the EU’s Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance.
