First Lady hosts intl meeting on cultural heritage, music

First Lady Hayrunnisa Gul yesterday delivered a keynote speech at the opening of an international congress meeting on cultural heritage and music. Five countries' first ladies gathered at the congress in Ankara: Azerbaijan's Mehriban Aliyeva, Latvia's Lilita Zatlere, Macedonia's Maya Ivanona, Slovenia's Barbara Miklic Turk, and Gul. "If we could teach our children to see differences as richness and show empathy, the world would be a better place for everyone to live," Gul told the gathering. "Music is our sole common language." For her part, Aliyeva said, "Music is universal and needs no interpretation." Turk also said, "In the modern age, music is fundamental for humanity."
