Five million tourists visit Turkey in august

Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism Omer Celik has reported that the number of foreign visitors to Turkey has increased by 10.67 percent in the January-August term, compared to the same period last year, and reached over 24 million according to official data revealed by the Ministry. Countries sending the highest number of visitors to Turkey include Germany with 3.3 million people, followed by Russia with 3.1 million and 79 percent of the total number of visitors is from Europe and Commonwealth of Independent States. In his statement, Celik also noted that tourism helped promote Turkey as well as contribute to the economy of the country and play a key role in cultural and humanitarian diplomacy.
