FM Davutoglu calls for responsibility sharing on Syria

Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu participated in the High-Level Segment Meeting entitled "Solidarity and Burden-Sharing with Countries Hosting Syrian Refugees" hich was organized on September 30 in Geneva. Speaking at the meeting also participated by ministers from Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq, Davutoglu said, "We need to set a road map for the future with a view to coping with one of the worst humanitarian disasters in history, and also getting the international community to honor its obligations in terms of burden and responsibility sharing under the international humanitarian law." Stressing that Turkey has maintained an "open border" policy for Syrians fleeing from the violence in their country since the beginning of the conflict and would continue to do so, Davutoglu noted, "The situation in Syria is further deteriorating every day. The humanitarian calamity we face now is beyond our individual capabilities. It requires collective approaches, as well as joint actions."
