Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmet Davutoglu said that Turkey supports the proposal of UN and Arab League Special Envoy for Syria Lakhdar Brahimi for a temporary ceasefire in Syria during the Eid al-Adha Islamic feast holiday. "We would do anything to stop the bloodshed in Syria for even a day, even an hour," Davutoglu said during a press conference he held in Ankara. "We in principle desire the bloodshed in Syria to stop altogether. Yet if the necessary conditions don’t exist to ensure it now, we do what we can for at least a temporary ceasefire during the holiday," he said. Stating that a ceasefire can be declared but the international community should take some measures for its sustainability, Davutoglu said that Turkey has put forward the most reasonable strategy and rational work that could be followed since the beginning of the war in Syria. "We never let events to drag us somewhere. Turkey has its own strategy," Davutoglu added.
