Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu paid an official visit to Baku on Tuesday to discuss bilateral and regional issues with high-level Azerbaijani officials. During his two-day visit, the minister and Azerbaijani officials will discuss all aspects of bilateral cooperation, with a special focus on regional issues. "Turkey's visits to Azerbaijan in the last few years were on the occasion of international meetings. We did not have a full-fledged bilateral meeting in the past few years. This visit is an opportunity to have such a meeting," said sources in the Foreign Ministry. The visit on Tuesday started with a working dinner at the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry given in honor of Davutoglu's arrival. On Wednesday, Davutoglu is set to meet with the Azerbaijani president, prime minister, foreign minister and parliament speakers. He will also meet with his Azerbaijani counterpart in inter-delegation meetings. Davutoglu will also hold a press conference after wrapping up talks with Azerbaijani officials. "During the upcoming bilateral and inter-delegation meetings, issues relating to bilateral relations on Turkey and Azerbaijan's agenda and regional and international developments within the areas of concern of the two countries will be discussed and evaluated," said an official statement from the Turkish Foreign Ministry on Tuesday.
