Gen. Dempsey in Ankara to hold official meetintgs

US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Martin Dempsey landed in Ankara yesterday upon an invitation by Chief of General Staff Gen. Necdet Ozel to hold official meetings until September 18.  Gen. Dempsey will be greeted with an official ceremony at the General Staff headquarters prior to his meeting with Gen. Ozel. As part of his contacts, Gen. Dempsey is expected to discuss the crisis in neighboring Syria, Turkey's domestic security with his Turkish counterparts, the killing of the US Ambassador to Libya, Christopher Stevens, and three other American officials during the Sept. 11 armed attack by protesters on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi are with his counterparts.
