Gul and Davutoglu address the Turkic World
Speaking at the Turkic Republics at the 20th Anniversary of their Independence meeting yesterday in Ankara, President Abdullah Gul said that Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan should act as one nation. Gul said that the Turkic republics have proven themselves and claimed their place in history and geography, adding that those who are not in solidarity with each other would face difficulties, when they are alone. Speaking in his part, Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu stressed the need for strengthening national sovereignty through democratic institutions. Davutoglu added that the countries which fail to have confidence in their own people, build the structures reflecting their preferences and adjust themselves to those democratic structures wouldn't be able to survive. "The cultural identities constitute diversity and beauty. The sister countries should come together and consider the ways to establish a strong economic field. Turkey is ready for making all sorts of contributions," Davutoglu said.
