Gul attends 75th anniversary celebrations at Istanbul University

President Abdullah Gul who has graduated from Faculty of Economics at Istanbul University 37 years ago yesterday attended the 75th anniversary celebrations at the famous M-1 lecture hall. The academicians who have lectured Gul in the past also attended the ceremony, where they were also presented a plaque by Gul. Starting his speech by saying that he has no intention to inform his lecturers on economy, Gul stated, "At a time when global economy suffers great many difficulties, we had great achievements, but we still have a long way to go. Our economy management is coordinated successfully. I highly appreciate this situation. I'm very hopeful about the future of our economy." Stating that innovation, as well as research and development are driving forces of growth, Gul said that Turkey's economy consisted of lower risk factors, compared to many economies in the EU. Gul added that Turkey's situation was better than that of many other countries.
