King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden and Queen Silvia hosted a dinner in honor of President Abdullah Gul and First Lady Hayrunnisa Gul at the Royal Palace on Tuesday. Speaking at the dinner, King Carl said he was honored to host Gul and the First Lady on the occasion of their first official visit to Sweden. "The EU will become stronger with Turkey. 100,000 Turkish citizens living in Sweden strengthen the ties between the two countries. Furthermore, each year half a million of Swedish people seek the sun which is as warm as Turkish hospitality on the Anatolian shores," King Carl said. For his part, Gul said, "After 274 years of relations, the continuation of our friendship and cooperation in the strongest way possible by adapting to changing circumstances is undoubtedly the most valuable heritage of our rich history."
