President Abdullah Gul on Wednesday assessed his state visit to Sweden to Turkish journalists who were following him in Sweden. Sharing his happiness with the release of eight Turkish public officials, who have been captured by the outlawed PKK, have arrived at their homes safe and sound, Gul said, "Everyone should learn from the past. All we want is that the terrorist organization lay down arms and stop terrorist activities. When violence stops, the country can give up security policies and adopt more reforms." Touching on the Swedish Parliament's decision on so-called Armenian allegations, Gul said that the issue should be left to historians, not to parliaments, and that the decision made by the Swedish Parliament regarding this issue has not come into force.
