President Abdullah Gul yesterday welcomed Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev at Cankaya Presidential Palace. Speaking at a joint press conference with his Bulgarian counterpart, Gul reiterated that presidents of the two countries have visited each other four times in the last four years. "This is the best indication of our relations. I would like to give an example of how perfect our relations are. Bulgaria has a population of 7.3 million and each year 1.2 million Bulgarian people visit Turkey. In other words, one out of seven persons visits Turkey. This situation shows our love and fondness for each other," Gul said. For his part, Plevneliev said that Gul was the first to phone and congratulate him for his success in presidential elections and that he would never forget that. Gul also held a dinner in the honor of his Bulgarian counterpart.
