It wouldn't be right for Turkey to open its ports to Greek Cypriots as long as the embargo on the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) continues, President Abdullah Gul said yesterday. Speaking to Turkish channel Bloomberg HT while visiting Britain, he said the best gesture on the Cyprus problem would be an end to the embargo and Turkey simultaneously opening its ports. Asked whether or not such mutual gestures are possible, Gul said, "From a political point of view, it wouldn't be right for Turkey to open its ports while the Greek Cypriots are still imposing an embargo on the Turkish Cypriots."
