President Abdullah Gul yesterday received Chairman of the Union of Turkish Bar Associations (TBB) Metin Feyzioglu and his accompanying delegation of the board members at the Cankaya Presidential Palace. During the meeting, Feyzioglu informed Gul about the TBB's activities and shared their concern about the overuse of tear gas. Gul underscored that the ongoing protests of the people are not similar to those occurring in the Middle East, rather, he said, they are like the ones in the States, England and Spain, which he noted, should be well understood. "I am closely following the events. I would like to reiterate that these incidents are like those in the developed democracies indeed such as the States, Spain and England. We should cherish the level Turkey has achieved as a matter of fact," Gul said, adding, "In this process, everyone needs to act responsibly and restrained. I will not allow a witch hunt over social media. I will be following the judicial and executive investigation."
