Gul to attend OIC summit in Cairo

President Abdullah Gul is set to travel to Cairo, Egypt today in order to attend a two-day meeting of the senior officials from the Organization for Islamic Organization (OIC). Besides Gul, the summit will be attended by 26 heads of states, including Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Iraqi President Nuri al-Maliki. Gul will also hold bilateral talks and emphasize the importance of economic cooperation as chairman of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC) on the sidelines of the summit.
