Several Turkish companies have signed deals for cooperation with mining firms in Ghana and Gabon, President Abdullah Gul said on Saturday. Returning from his fourth African tour, the president called his visit fruitful for promoting Turkey's strategies. "We signed political, economic and military agreements," he told a press conference at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport. Infrastructure and housing investments in Ghana and Gabon are key, and these countries are rich in minerals, he said. "I'm glad to learn that our companies interested in mining signed significant booking notes during this visit," he added. During his trip, Gul attended business meetings held by the Turkish Confederation of Businessmen and Industrialists (TUSKON) in Ghana and Gabon. Gul was the first ever Turkish president to officially visit those countries.
