Gul travels to Krygyzstan
President Abdullah Gul yesterday visited the Gaziantep Governor's Office, where he was informed by Governor Erdal Ata about the terrorist attack in which 9 citizens were killed and 66 were injured in the southeastern city of Gaziantep on Monday. Afterwards, Gul visited the wounded citizens at Sehit Kamil Hospital, attended the funeral ceremony at the Bahaeddin Nakiboglu Mosque, and then proceeded to Gaziantep Airport to travel to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan in order to attend the 2nd Summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States (CCTS). Speaking to reporters at the airport, Gul said, "This terrorist assault has nothing to do with claiming rights at all! It is nothing but an organized terrorist activity staged by inhumane and brutal people. I extend my condolences to the families of our citizens losing their lives and to the nation." Touching on his official visit to Bishkek, Gul said that he hoped that multi-party parliamentary system in Kyrgyzstan would prove itself successfully. Gul also recalled that the CCTS Summit to be attended by his Kyrgyz counterpart Almazbek Atambayev is held once a year to boost the existing cooperation between the Turkic-speaking states and carry their relations into the future in a stronger way. Afterwards, Gul and the accompanying delegation landed in the Manas Airport in Bishkek, where they were received by Kyrgyz Prime Minister Omurbek Babanov and Turkey's Ambassador to Bishkek Nejat Akcal.
