Gul visits 103 countries in five years

President Abdullah Gul has visited 103 countries since August 2007, when he was elected the president by the Parliament. According to information received from the Foreign Ministry, Gul has gone abroad in the capacity of president as part of 59 official visits, as well as three working, 21 summit and 20 other visits. Within the framework of his travels, Gul paid official visits for the first time as the president of the Turkish Republic to 12 countries, namely, Senegal, Japan, Kenya, Tanzania, Serbia, Montenegro, Democratic Republic of Congo, Cameroon, Nigeria, Gana, Gabon and Yemen. Furthermore, Turkey has been represented for the first time on the presidential level in Tatarstan, a constituent republic of the Russian Federation, and the Xinjiang autonomous region of the People's Republic of China since the day Gul was elected the president.
