Guler makes statement on social media regulations

Interior Minister Muammer Guler said yesterday that studies were underway on a draft legal regulation with regard to social media. Stating that certain criminal organizations also used social media in Turkey just like throughout the world, Guler said that social media would not be a privileged area in terms of committing crime anymore. "The preventive authorities particularly based on terrorism should be reviewed in constitutional and legal regulations," Guler said, adding that the sphere of social media should be used, but that the protection of individuals' rights and interests should be equally protected as well.
