The international literature award of the Balkanika Foundation was presented this year to Turkish writer Nedim Gursel for his novel "Demon, Angel and Communist" in a ceremony held in Tirnova, the former capital city of Bulgaria. The jury assessed Gursel’s work through its translation into French and deemed the novel worthy of the award on grounds that he has fictionalized the narration and world of heroes in Istanbul, Moscow and Berlin within the framework of communism. Nikolai Staianov, founder of the Balkanika Foundation, said that the book would be translated into Balkan languages.
