The chairman of the far-right Jobbik party in Hungary, Gabor Vona, lauded Turkey in front of 3,000 members at his party's 2012 opening meeting. Vona said Hungary should not trust the European Union, telling his nation to take example on Turks. "Hungary has finished with the West. The EU robs us. The direction now is the east, Turkey and Russia," said Vona asserting that economic, cultural and political co-operation with Turkey and Russia is inevitable in order to get over the European financial crisis.
