Secretary-general of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, accompanied by a senior delegation, yesterday visited Somali, where he held bilateral talks with Somalia's president, prime minister and parliament speaker, and met with Somali people who are staying at camps. Ihsanoglu's trip to Somalia is the first ever by a secretary-general of the organization, which is also internationally important in the sense that it greatly supports the atmosphere of stability, peace and safety in Somalia, as well as newly-elected Somalia President Hasan Sheikh Mahmud. As part of his visit, Ihsanoglu also seized the opportunity of assessing on-site the relief materials which have been sent and conducted by the OIC office in the Somali capital of Mogadishu during periods of drought and famine.
