In Warsaw for official visit, Gul thanks incoming EU president Poland for supporting Turkey

Thanking Poland yesterday for supporting Turkey's European Union membership bid, President Abdullah Gul said its approach towards Turkey's bid shows foresight into Europe's future. "Poland tops the list of countries that have not lost their strategic vision of EU affairs and who are thinking of Europe's future," Gul said at a joint press conference on the first day of a two-day visit to Poland, following talks with his Polish counterpart Bronislaw Komorowski. Gul also underlined that Poland and Turkey have longstanding diplomatic ties and are important strategic allies. Next month Poland is set to assume the EU's six-month rotating presidency.
