Iran making vain excuses and losing its credibility, says Erdogan
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has sent a sharp message yesterday to Iranian government that announced they were considering Damascus or Bagdad for nuclear talks instead of Istanbul. Erdogan defined Iran's proposal to hold talks in Damascus or Bagdad as "making vain excuses". "Holding these meetings in Istanbul doesn't bring prestige to us. The only one who will make profit from the talks is Iran. We have to be honest. They are continually losing their international prestige due to lack of honesty. This is not the language of diplomacy. The name of this is something else, but I won't say it here," Erdogan said. He also commented on Damascus's ongoing operations on anti-Assad government protestors, although Syrian regime has accepted UN and Arab League envoy Kofi Annan's plan. "These are illusive maneuvers. Such statements as ‘I have withdrawn troops, I have withdrawn tanks" reflects the stance of Assad, which we have got used to so far. He hasn't talked and behaved honestly until now. We will see whether he will be honest from now on by his position until April 10," Erdogan said.
