Iraqi Kurdistan petrol starts oil exports through Turkey
The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has started to export crude oil directly to the world oil markets through Turkey. The export of crude, despite in small volumes, highlights the semi-autonomous region's move towards greater economic independence, the sources said. The first crude has been delivered by truck to the Turkish port of Mersin on the Mediterranean. Genel Energy President Mehmet Sepil said KRG has allowed General Energy to begin crude oil export from the Taq Taq oilfield. According to industry sources, 150,000 barrels per day of condensate are reaching Turkey. In exchange, Turkey is sending back refined products to the Kurdish region, which is short of fuel.
