Islamic center at the heart of the EU
The head of the Directorate of Religious Affairs Prof. Dr. Mehmet Gormez said they will build an Islamic organization representing Muslim faith in the capital of Europe, Brussels as other religions have organizations at the EU. Director Gormez said Catholics, Protestants and Jews are informing European parliamentarians on the developments in the world with regard to their religions and inspiring them on the solutions of problems through their agencies. "In the same way it is very important to have an agency representing Islam in Brussels. We are almost finalizing our works. We will seek to establish an agency in Brussels representing Muslims with Eurasia Islamic Council members and muftis in Balkan countries. Classical as well as modern architecture will be used in the planned centre. There will be a mosque, convention centre, library and accommodation in the complex," he said.
