Jagland visits Syrian refugees

Council of Europe Secretary-General Thorbjorn Jagland on Wednesday visited the Boynuyogun tent city on the Turkish-Syrian border where Syrians who fled the ongoing violence at home have taken refuge. During his visit, Jagland was accompanied by Justice Minister Sadullah Ergin and a delegation. Speaking to reporters, Jagland said he expects the clashes in Syria to end as soon as possible and thanked Turkey for its sensitivity on the issue. "I was very much touched by the situation here. We see both how people are living under difficult circumstances and how Turkey is providing support to them facing a serious disaster. Turkey is doing a very important job in this sense," Jagland said.
