Latest death tool in Van earthquake reaches 601

The death toll from a devastating earthquake which occurred in the eastern province of Van last Sunday has reached 601, with 4152 people injured, the Disaster and Emergency Administration of Turkey (AFAD) reported, while the number of the people who were rescued alive was declared as 188. The government has handed out 13 million Turkish Liras to the Van Governor's Office so that urgent needs in the province could be fulfilled. Reportedly, search and rescue operations have ended in Van, but still continuing at two sites in Ercis. Following the 7.2 magnitude earthquake, a total of 1,400 aftershocks were recorded.
