Abdal Rahman Kissa, Health Minister of the National Transitional Council in Libya, yesterday signed a protocol with the Near East University (NEU) Medical School in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). As part of the protocol, Libya recognizes the TRNC de facto, if not officially. The protocol was signed by Suat Gunsel, founding rector of the NEU, and Kissa on behalf of Libya. TRNC Prime Minister Irsen Kucuk also attended the signature ceremony. Kissa defined his visit to the TRNC as a tour of friendship, rather than an official visit, saying that he will talk about the beauties that he has seen in the TRNC and work in cooperation with the TRNC in many other fields as well. In accordance with the protocol, patients from Libya will be received in one week, charter flights will be organized towards this end and a private plane owned by the NEU Medical School will be sent to Libya in emergencies.
