The second day of a trilateral summit on Cyprus which was held at the Greentree Estate in New York and attended by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Dervis Eroglu and Cyprus Greek administration leader Dimitris Christophias made limited progress, Ban said yesterday. Speaking to the press following the summit, Ban said, "I reminded the leaders that this process is Cypriot-owned and Cypriot-led. At this state of talks, maintaining the momentum and continuing the negotiations, even in an intensive manner, is not enough. I urged the leaders to make decisive steps towards a final settlement on the Cyprus issue," adding, "I will seek a review of the process from my Special Adviser, Alexander Downer at the end of March. If his report is positive, I intend to call a multilateral conference in late April or early May." Speaking in his part, Eroglu said, "We again acted flexibly and put forward constructive proposals, whereas the Greek Cypriot side has only rejected our proposals and thus maintained its stance."
