Local tourism earns 1.5 billion-Liras incentive

The local tourism sector received over 1.5 billion Turkish Liras-worth of investment incentive within the first four months of this year. A total of 130 tourism investments projects, 105 of them totally new ones, received 1.55 billion liras-worth of incentive licenses between January and April, the Mediterranean Touristic Hotels and Investors Association (AKTOB) announced. The statement said the 105 new planned projects would provide employment opportunities for 6,120 people. The facilities projected to be built with incentives will have 12,600 rooms and 25,300 beds. Antalya became the top city that received the most incentives by far, receiving a 36 percent share. It was followed by Istanbul with 11 percent, and Mugla, Mersin and Hatay with 5 percents. With regards to hotel types, three-star hotels received the lion share of funds.
