Marmaray's "sibling" to be launched in 2015

Transportation, Maritime Affairs and Communications Minister Binali Yildirim spoke about the transportation goals for the year 2023 at a program on a private Turkish TV channel. "Marmaray is an intercontinental rail transport project linking the Far East and Western Europe and we are coming to an end in this project. Another tube tunnel project between the Haydarpasa Port and Sarayburnu to be finished by 2015 is underway and we call it 'Marmaray's sibling'," Yildirim said, adding that sea traffic is the primary issue in Istanbul and both Marmaray and the second tube tunnel will relieve the city traffic. Yildirim also touched on the progress on the third bridge in Istanbul, saying that the towers are currently being constructed and that things are going as planned.
