Meeting of EU-Turkey Joint Consultative Committee comittee held in Ankara

 

The 31st meeting of the EU-Turkey Joint Consultative Committee was held in Ankara yesterday and attended by Turkey’s EU Minister and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis, President of the European Economic and Social Committee Staffan Nilsson and Chairman of the Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB) Rifat Hisarciklioglu. Speaking on the sidelines of the meeting, Hisarciklioglu said that the TOBB, Delegation of the European Union to Turkey and Economy Ministry have ensured that companies from Turkey and EU-member countries jointly carry out business in Egypt, Tunis and Palestine. "Our project has drawn great attention from the EU and Turkish business circles. The applications have been received by more than 300 companies. We need to increase the number of similar projects and prepare other projects on the civilian society dialogue and student exchanges in order to work in cooperation,' Hisarciklioglu said, adding that a student who has been entitled to benefit from the Erasmus Program should not face difficulties about visa procedures. "Similarly, a businessman who has rented a stand sent his products to participate in a fair in an EU-member country should not face difficulties deriving from visa procedures, because the visa issue isn’t suitable to the integration that we want to establish. It’s not suitable to the legal dimension of our relations, either,' Hisarciklioglu noted.
