Merkel's success is praiseworthy, says Bagis

Turkey's Minister for European Union Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis congratulated German Chancellor Angela Merkel whose conservative Christian Democrats (CDU) party secured a third straight term getting 41.5 percent of votes. "Merkel has won the elections for the third time by increasing her votes. Her success is praiseworthy in terms of democratic standards. I hope her triumph will be beneficial for herself, her county and Turkish community in Germany," said Bagis. Underlining the fact that more Turks living in Germany voted for the elections this term, Bagis noted that this situation showed how important was the role played by Turks in German politics. "I believe Merkel will take necessary steps to improve bilateral relations and make them turn into a privileged partnership," Bagis concluded.
