National security council warns France
The severe messages came from the National Security Council (MGK) meeting yesterday. The last MGK meeting of the year 2011, chaired by President Abdullah Gul, lasted approximately for six hours. The French draft law on Armenian allegations, fight against terrorism, developments in Iraq and Syria were assessed by the members. The implications of sanctions against France and strategies to be followed in the future were discussed. In a statement, the MGK said it hoped "common sense" would prevail in France and that Paris would give up on its "mistake". "In relation to this subject, measures announced by the government and further additional measures to be announced depend on France's steps," the Council said, adding that if the bill is enacted, there would be an objection in every way against that unfair measure. Recent developments which seem to be sectarian conflicts were also on its agenda, pointing out the importance of immediately ending the violence against civilians and opponents in Syria and determining the future of Syria by Syrians.
