New road map for Cyprus
Making every effort to find a comprehensive solution to the Cyprus issue, Turkey prepared a new road map for Cyprus which includes visits by special envoys of the Turkish-Cypriots and the Greek-Cypriots in Athens and Ankara. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Levent Gumrukcu provided information on the new road map raised by Turkey last week at the UN Security Council meeting. Stressing that this recent development on the matter did not alter Turkey’s long-standing position that the Turkish-Cypriot side’s main interlocutor was Greek- Cypriots, Gumrukcu pointed to the importance of the active participation of both parties in order to facilitate the process.
