Touching upon an official visit to be paid by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Russia tomorrow, Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc said that new sanctions on Syria might be on agenda after his visit. In response to questions whether the information given by Syria and the US about the downing of a Turkish jet by Syria on June 22 contradicts to each other or not, and any possibility to share these information with public, Arinc said the Foreign Ministry had all these documents. In response to questions related to Erdogan’s visit to Russia, Arinc said that the latest tragedy carried out by forces of the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on June 17 must be on the agenda. "I could easily say that after this visit, new horizons will be opened and new sanctions will be on agenda," Arinc said following the Cabinet meeting on Monday, adding that search and rescue efforts would be conducted by the TCG Inebolu ship to lift the debris of Turkish war plane. "We have held talks with U.S. Felix Company and reached an agreement. The Felix Company will provide the TCG Inebolu ship with required equipment. The company personnel will pursue search and rescue efforts," said Arinc. Arinc also noted that the Nautilus ship has spotted the plane's debris, displayed the parts of debris, pulled out the bodies of two pilots, and also lifted some parts of the debris. "We have only ten percent of the debris so far," said Arinc, adding that TCG Inebolu ship would pursue the activities from now on.
