OIC chief gives important messages on Syria and Cyprus

Organization for Islamic Cooperation's (OIC) Secretary-General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu has given important messages on Syria and Cyprus which are Turkish foreign policy's primary topics. Ihsanoglu called OIC's initiatives for Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus as "act of rebellion against unfair stances towards Turkish Cypriots". He called countries which support Syrian President Bashar al-Assad regime and rebels "to make pressure on both sides to come to the table in order to find a political solution to stop bloodshed in the country".  "Unfortunately there is no consensus on what should be done in Syria. However, there is a consensus on what should not be done. The point we have reached today proves me right. This situation paves the way for the current Syrian regime's ongoing brutal methods against its own people. Countries which support President Bashar al-Assad regime and rebels must press on both sides so heavily that there will be a ground for ceasefire," Ihsanoglu said in an interview with Hurriyet. Ceasefire was the first point of former UN envoy Kofi Annan's six-point peace plan to end 18-month violence in Syria. Ihsanoglu said the Greek Administration of Southern Cyprus misdirected international community by failing to negotiate. "A brutal and unfair embargo is imposed on Turkish Cypriots. History, geography, human rights of a nation are tried to be taken away. Turkish Cypriots are unable to reach international order and acceptance they deserve due to unilateral propaganda of Greek Cypriots," Ihsanoglu said.
