Turkish scholar Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, the secretary-general of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), yesterday received the Hilal-i Pakistan medal in Islamabad, Pakistan. Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari gave the award to Ihsanoglu on the anniversary of his country's independence for his efforts to find a solution to the Kashmir issue. The medal is the highest honor Pakistan bestows on civilians.
